A daughter of Atlanta, Mayor Bottoms strives to continue the City’s progress as a global business hub, while also building a city that stands as a national model for equity and inclusion.  With a six-point focus on affordability, public health and safety, transportation, education, criminal justice reform, and economic and workforce development, Mayor Bottoms is committed to leading Atlanta to becoming a recognized leader in both commerce and compassion.

Within her first 100 days, Mayor Bottoms implemented sweeping reforms that would improve lives and transform the trajectory of Atlanta’s future.  As part of her commitment to strengthening public education for all of Atlanta’s children, Mayor Bottoms transferred deeds for 31 properties to Atlanta Public Schools.  Tackling criminal justice reform, Mayor Bottoms signed an ordinance to eliminate the use of cash bonds for low level, low income offenders. Mayor Bottoms also announced a $9 million, citywide anti-displacement initiative to expand affordable housing opportunities for low income residents as part of her $1 billion public-private equity and affordability plan. Doubling down on her commitment to maintaining an affordable Atlanta, Mayor Bottoms, in partnership with the Westside Future Fund, announced the Anti-Displacement Tax Fund, which will pay any property tax increases for qualifying homeowners in the City’s historic Westside communities.

This $26 million investment will connect the Eastside of the BeltLine to the Westside for the first time in the trail’s history – providing greater access to transit options and world-class greenspace for residents.

Only the second woman to be elected to Atlanta’s highest office, Mayor Bottoms was designated a “Woman to Watch in 2018” by Viacom’s BET Network. She has also been profiled by Atlanta Magazine, Ebony Magazine and Politico Magazine, where she was named “the most prominent black female executive in the South – and one of the few in the entire country”.

A lifelong public servant, Mayor Bottoms previously served as a lawyer, judge, City Councilmember, and Executive Director of the Atlanta-Fulton County Recreation Authority (AFCRA), where she spearheaded the sale and $350 million planned redevelopment of Turner Field, formerly home to the 1996 Summer Olympic Games and Major League Baseball’s Atlanta Braves.

A product of the Atlanta Public School System, Mayor Bottoms graduated from Frederick Douglass High School and went on to receive her undergraduate degree from Florida A&M University. She earned her Juris Doctorate from Georgia State University College of Law.

An active member of the community, Mayor Bottoms is a member of the State Bar of Georgia, the Atlanta Chapter of Jack and Jill of America, the Dogwood City Chapter of The Links, Inc., and Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. She has also served on the Board of Families First, where she shares her personal story of adoption, and advocates on behalf of adoption and foster care.

Mayor Bottom resides in Southwest Atlanta with her husband, Derek W. Bottoms, their four children – Lance, Langston, Lennox and Lincoln, and their family dog, Logan.

Rahm Emanuel was elected the 55th mayor of the City of Chicago on February 22nd, 2011 and was sworn in on May 16th, 2011. He was elected to a second term in 2015 and sworn in on May 18th, 2015.

In his first year in office, Mayor Emanuel announced the redeployment of over 1,000 officers to Chicago’s neighborhoods and secured more than 20,000 private-sector jobs for residents across the city. Facing a $635 million fiscal shortfall, Mayor Emanuel led the passage of a unanimous budget containing reforms and investments to ensure Chicago’s financial future.  He then pushed for education reforms allowing for elementary students to gain an extra hour and 15 minutes every day and two additional weeks every year, and all-day pre-kindergarten for students in every part of the city. Additionally, Mayor Emanuel launched Building a New Chicago, a $7 billion coordinated infrastructure plan that will revitalize the city’s roads, rails, and runways.

At the onset of his second term, Mayor Emanuel laid out more comprehensive initiatives for the betterment of Chicago through investment and innovation in its neighborhoods from city services to economic development. Over the last year and a half, more than forty corporations have moved or announced their intent to move to Chicago bringing thousands of jobs. Through the Building on Burnham Plan the City has built or refurbished more than 300 playgrounds across communities and added more park and green space to underserved areas. Mayor Emanuel has also taken important steps to connect all communities and law enforcement through increased transparency and accountability, and improved communication. The Healthy Chicago 2.0 Plan addresses citywide disparities and connects residents to vital services and information across city departments and agencies and Mayor Emanuel has marked record progress in reducing the structural deficit to $137.6 million for 2017 – the lowest it has been since 2007.

Prior to becoming Mayor, Emanuel served as the White House Chief of Staff in President Barack Obama’s administration.  Before accepting the position as Chief of Staff to the President, Emanuel served three terms in the U.S. House of Representatives representing Chicago’s 5th District. Prior to being elected to Congress, Emanuel served as a key member of the Clinton White House from 1993 to 1998, rising to serve as Senior Advisor to the President for Policy and Strategy.

Mayor Emanuel graduated from Sarah Lawrence College in 1981 and received a Master’s Degree in Speech and Communication from Northwestern University in 1985. He is married to Amy Rule, and they have three children, Zach, Ilana, and Leah.

Ahmed Aboutaleb (born 1961 in Beni Sidel, Morocco) has been Mayor of Rotterdam since 2009. Previously, he represented the PvdA (Labour Party) as State Secretary for the Ministry of Social Affairs and Employment in the fourth Balkenende cabinet (2007-2008).

1985 – 2007 In the mid-1980s, Aboutaleb started his career in journalism. In 1991, he moved to public services, holding positions with the Ministry of Welfare, Health and Culture, the Social and Economic Council of the Netherlands (SER) and Statistics Netherlands (CBS). In 2002 he became director of the City of Amsterdam’s sector of Social, Economic and Cultural Development (MEC).

Rotterdam Mayor Aboutaleb strongly advocates the values enshrined in the Dutch Constitution: freedom of religion, freedom of speech and the principle of non-discrimination. In his view, obtaining Dutch citizenship entails a responsibility to respect and uphold those values and to take part in building the We Society. The more people take part in which, the stronger and more resilient that society will be, both in good and bad times. He’ll regularly take neighborhood strolls throughout Rotterdam to have talks with residents about what concerns them.

Following the municipal elections in April, Mr Vapaavuori won the most votes in Helsinki, and was appointed as new mayor by the City Council on 7 June 2017 for a four-year term. Prior to his current position, Mr Vapaavuori worked as Vice President of the European Investment Bank since 2015. Before this, he served as Minister of Economic Affairs, Minister of Housing and Minister of Nordic Cooperation. He has also been special advisor to several ministers. From 2003 to 2015, Mr Vapaavuori was a Member of Parliament. During the term as MP, he served among other things as chair of the party's parliamentary group. He graduated as Master of Law from the University of Helsinki, and has carried out postgraduate studies in Helsinki, Uppsala and The Hague.

Ravi Bhalla was elected Hoboken’s 39th Mayor on November 7, 2017 out of a field of six candidates. Born and raised in New Jersey, Mayor Bhalla is a 17 year resident of Hoboken and eight year member of the Hoboken City Council.
